The "Kedamaian" (Peace/Compassion) International Exhibit and Performance/Lecture Series is a unique collaboration between artists, Anna Niblic Heggie (Australia), Bundhowi (Indonesia) and Sandra Phillips (Canada). United by a common desire to process and practise Peace through their art, they have created a striking series of digital images, a selection of which can be viewed online at www.niblic.com . The full series has been exhibited at the Barber Gallery, Guelph, Ontario in late 2006, and most recently at the Rudana Museum, Ubud, Bali in August, 2007and the Waywood Gallery in Byron Bay, Australia, in April 2008.
Multi-media artist and performer, Sandra Phillips, has created a Wayang Kulit (Javanese Shadow Theatre) performance entitled, "Lakon Suara Ibu Bumi" ("The Voice of Mother Earth") in which a DVD animated version of her "Kedamaian" artworks are projected onto a kelir or shadow puppet screenand are accompanied by a live performance of Central Javanese and contemporary gamelan music. The world premiere of this lakon took place at the University of Guelph and University of Waterloo Concert Series , and featured the talents of Wiryawan Padmonojati ( internationally acclaimed Javanese dancer, choreographer and gamelan teacher) ; Andrew Timar ( well-known Canadian composer and suling (Javanese flute) expert and Sandra Phillips, critically acclaimed sindhen (Central Javanese singing tradition ).

This original shadow puppet play, written and designed by Sandra Phillips, was performed on the slopes of Gunung Merapi in Central Java. Sandra's hilarious story was supported by a local team of Youth Volunteers who helped her with publicity, video documentation and translation. The theatre director played the role of "Ayam" (Chicken). Following the performance, the audience was invited to take part in a wayang kertas (paper shadow puppet)-making workshop.
Many Thanks go out to the village volunteers and to the Canadian Canada/Java Children's Fund supporters who helped make this show possible. The shadow puppet screen that Sandra had built for the Special Event was donated to the village, where it is being used for children's performances under the guidance of both the Theatre Directors and the local Youth Committee.
